A New Declaration of Independence Written for Our Time

and

A Voice of Warning Written as a Preamble

A Response to the Violations of Our God-given Liberties as Perpetrated by the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Branches of the Government of the United States of America

A Voice of Warning

Note: This New American Declaration of Independence, written for our time, is modeled after the original in order to make a point: We face circumstances at least as perilous as those faced more than two centuries ago by our Founders, and meeting the challenges those conditions impose will require commitment equal to the task — a commitment far beyond our comfort zone. This is not a call to arms, but, rather, a call to understand what is at stake and what will be required to reclaim our liberty if we choose now to take no positive action.

235 years ago an oppressed people rose up, threw off their oppressors, and established a nation of promise based on individual liberty and responsibility — and ultimately enshrined those principles in the United States Constitution.

Unfortunately, despotism never rests, and it has again been loosed in the form of cradle-to-grave paternalism on a people whose only desire is to live free. Meanwhile, those who have been elected to represent us have forgotten from whom their power is derived and have used that power to emasculate the protections of our Heaven-blessed Constitution.

They have forgotten that the people have the right and duty to either alter or abolish any form of government that does not protect them in their unalienable rights. They have forgotten that those who refuse to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. They have forgotten that the repository of national wisdom is in the people — not government.

And they do not believe that the people will exercise their God-given rights to protect their freedom.

To all government officials, representatives, executives, and bureaucrats at every level of government: BE WARNED — REVERSE COURSE NOW AND RESTORE OUR SOVEREIGNTY, SECURITY, AND FREEDOMS: WE STAND WITH OUR FOUNDERS AND DO HEREBY DECLARE OUR ALLEGIANCE TO THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION AND ITS FOUNDING PRINCIPLES AS UNDERSTOOD AND ARTICULATED BY THE MEN WHO, UNDER DIVINE GUIDANCE, PENNED THAT CONSTITUTION. AMERICA WILL HAVE A REBIRTH OF FREEDOM ... A REBIRTH THAT WILL NOT BE THWARTED BY ANY POLITICAL ARISTOCRACY.


A New American Declaration of Independence

When in the course of human events it becomes necessary for a people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them, to assert and reclaim the individual and collective rights to which, as Children of God, they are entitled, and to assume among the powers of the earth the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation. Be it known, however, to all kindreds, tongues, and peoples, that Truth is independent of the frailties of humankind, that Truth is independent of this earthly sphere, that Truth is recognized by Almighty God, the Creator and Sovereign of the Universe and all therein, and that Truth need not be recognized by those who have brought upon a nation the need for political dissolution in order for the Blessings of Heaven to rest upon those who seek to assert, reclaim, and make effective their individual and collective rights.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men and women are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, property, and the pursuit of happiness — That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed — That whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right and duty of the governed  to alter or to abolish it, and to institute a new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them, shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness, and to preserve those rights given by God to all men and women.

Prudence, indeed, will dictate that governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience has shown that men and women are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security — Such has been the patient sufferance of this people; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former systems of government.

The history of the Executive Branch of the United States and the United States Congress during the last decade, which history finds its foundation in the progressive, cradle-to-grave paternalism of the early the 20th Century, has been and continues to be a history of repeated and rapidly accelerating injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute tyranny over this people. Moreover, activists jurist who substitute personal preferences for the sacred principles embodied in our United States Constitution have joined in this depraved assault on our God-given rights, and have thereby diminished our traditions of integrity, honesty, fairness, justice, and mercy — exchanging them for the whims of bureaucrats whose only allegiance is to the patrons who have given them the power, which power is routinely exercised and sustained by the raw, brutal force of the federal government, to govern outside the bounds of  integrity, honesty, fairness, justice, mercy, decency, or legitimacy.

To prove this, let the facts be submitted to a candid world.

The federal government has relinquished significant and ever-increasing portions of our national sovereignty to foreign governments and other interests, including many entities who are hostile to the legitimate interests of the United States, through a series of international treaties, agreements, and regulatory and financial arrangements.

The federal government has refused to take all steps necessary — diplomatic, economic, and military — to bring pressure to bear upon those countries, organizations, and others who represent significant risks to our safety, security, and national tranquility.

In the face of rogue nations who wish to destroy us, the federal government has reduced resources for our missile defense network.

The federal government has refused to effectively confront piracy on the high seas, thus subjecting commerce to unnecessary, avoidable risks, which situation, in turn, adversely affects commerce and the stability of our economy.

For the first time in recorded history, the federal government, has, for the purposes of trial, granted the rights of citizenship to enemy combatants, including terrorists, thus causing those who are captured and who want to decimate our cities and indiscriminately slaughter our people to be treated as American criminals rather than enemy combatants, thereby (1) giving our sworn enemies an American unfettered platform from which to spew their hateful, obscene propaganda and (2) increasing the likelihood that said terrorists will be released into the general population.

The federal government has refused to secure our national borders, thus exposing this people to unparalleled danger from international terrorists; indeed, the federal government has unjustly prosecuted border agents for enforcing the law and for exercising their legitimate authority to protect the people from criminals.

The federal government has disregarded completely our immigration laws, thus allowing an unrestricted flow of illegal immigrants into our homeland — immigrants who have displaced or otherwise infringed upon the rights of legal immigrants or those who wish to immigrate legally; moreover, these same illegal immigrants have become an unbearable burden to taxpayers and have displaced American workers, including legal immigrants, in the marketplace.

The federal government has brought disrespect and disdain upon the rule of law by refusing to impose sanctions on taxpayer-supported political subdivisions that openly defy immigration laws by declaring themselves to be a sanctuary for all who enter the country illegally.

The federal government has refused to safeguard the American electoral process; indeed, the federal government has encouraged and permitted voter fraud by funding, with intent, organizations that are known to commit voter fraud or intimidate those who attempt to ensure that only eligible voters cast votes.

The federal government has upheld the gerrymandering of Congressional districts, thereby perverting representative government.

The federal government is actively pursuing a policy of disallowing a secret ballot — the bedrock of the American electoral process — in the matter of deciding whether or not a group of employees will organize a union.

The federal government has refused to pursue energy independence, and, in fact, has, with intent, prevented this people from becoming energy independent, choosing instead to ignore all but the most expensive, unproven, and impractical forms of energy. Not only does this irresponsible, insensitive approach jeopardize our economy, destroy our manufacturing sectors, and export jobs to China, India, and Mexico, but it also puts in grave danger our national security.

Through “cap and trade” legislation, the federal government will initiate and complete the largest forced transfer of wealth in the history of man from the United States to developing and Third World countries, a forced transfer that will bring no benefit to this people — Furthermore, that transfer will be paid for by working families whose energy bills will double as they simultaneously experience substantial increases in the costs of every other purchase because nothing is manufactured or otherwise made available without the consumption of energy.

The federal government has, with intent and malice of forethought toward the American people, devalued and debased our currency, thereby exposing this people collectively and individually to unprecedented personal, economic, and national security risks.

The federal government has created and continues to create deficits that are unsustainable — deficits that will ultimately destroy the financial security of our society for ourselves and generations yet unborn through hyper-inflation, confiscatory taxes, economic stagnation or depression, or a combination thereof, thereby subjecting this people to abject slavery.

The federal government continues to seek new and ever-increasing taxes as the answer to its unwillingness to control its own spending, thus depriving Americans and American businesses of the legitimate fruits of their own labor, even while spending billions of taxpayer funds on items such as tunnels for turtles and studies of bovine and swine flatulent.

The federal government has forced onto this people a massive redistribution of wealth that benefits certain groups within our society at the expense of others. Through such schemes the federal government has promoted class and racial warfare within the United States.

The federal government has used taxpayer funds to purchase private-sector business interests in the financial and manufacturing sectors of our economy — an unprecedented nationalization of private industry that is clearly beyond the scope of legitimate government. Moreover, the diversion of public funds from public purposes irreparably harms the ability of government to carry out its legitimate functions.

Through the EPA, the federal government has placed the interests of inconsequential insects and small fish above the need of our farmers to grow the food required to sustain life, thus depriving farmers of their livelihood and increasing our reliance on foreign sources of food, thereby putting at greater risk our national security.

Through its farm policies, the federal government has destroyed the family farm, thus opening the way for large farming conglomerates to dominate food production in the United States, thereby concentrating power in a few, highly-favored business interests.

Through regulation of the automobile industry, the federal government has rendered large segments of the American car industry uncompetitive; similar actions have been undertaken by the federal government in other sectors of the economy with equally devastating results. Indeed, the federal government controls and seeks to further control commerce, including intrastate commerce, rather than to promote commerce — which has resulted in an unprecedented restriction of personal freedom, including but not limited to the denial of one’s right to pursue lawful work of one’s own choice or to use one’s own property for legal, economically beneficial activities of one’s own choosing.

The federal government has legitimized and actively supports the confiscation of private property for the benefit of private interests through the perversion of eminent domain.

The federal government has legitimized the theft of private financial assets by requiring secured bond holders of specific corporate bonds to subjugate their property rights to those without a secured interest. This unwise, unwarranted, illegal act has further damaged future capital formation due to the uncertainty that comes with unilaterally reversing nearly 225 years of financial standards and practices.

The federal government has forced most Americans into Social Security, even though Congress and other privileged groups have been exempted from the system — In return for the payment of hundreds of billions in Social Security taxes, Congress and the Executive Branch have bankrupted the system. Moreover, concerning the security of retirement assets, the federal government has exempted itself from the rigorous fiduciary standards imposed on private-sector pension plans.

The federal government has pursued and is pursuing the eventual nationalization of healthcare, which result will be preceded by yet another significant and permanent increase in the national deficit, a significant and permanent increase in healthcare costs, a significant and permanent increase in taxes, a permanent reduction in the availability of life-saving medical treatment for targeted groups of people, otherwise known as rationing, and a permanent, general decline in the quality of those services that are provided.

The federal government has destroyed education by promoting large, unmanageable, and inept bureaucracies at all levels of government for the purpose of controlling local school boards and restricting the authority of local boards to allocate resources as needed within their own local jurisdictions. Moreover, the federal government has imposed demands that do not serve the interests of individual students or the larger community.

The federal government has refused to protect the lives of innocent, unborn children — even those who are viable and who have but weeks or even days until their respective births. Moreover, the federal government is pursuing policies that will force institutions to perform abortions even when those institutions are entirely funded and operated by charitable organizations and churches for whom abortion in contrary to their principles, values, or doctrines.

The federal government promotes birth control and abortion for children without the knowledge or consent of those parents who bear the responsibility for rearing those children.

The federal government has refused to adopt English as the official language of these United States, thus risking the fragmentation of our society even while adding billions to the costs of government at all levels.

The federal government has displaced the public acknowledgement and role of our Judeo-Christian roots wherever possible, replacing them with secular humanism even while promoting the public practice of non-Western religions on public property.

The federal government has limited freedom of expression for some even while promoting policies that force others to fund political activities to which they are opposed on both moral and political grounds. Moreover, the federal government is actively pursuing legislation and new FCC regulations designed to limit the freedom of expression for certain media organizations, groups, and individuals.

The federal government has limited the right of Americans to bear arms and is pursuing policies to further limit those rights through ever-increasing restrictions on the ownership of weapons.

The federal government has implemented and is pursuing additional policies whose purpose is to control individual choices across a wide variety of behaviors and personal choices, including choices in areas such as diet, health, apparel, and recreational activities.

The federal government is riddled with dishonesty at all levels, as evidenced by the many scandals involving the trading or exchange of funds or other property for influence or access, the sweetheart deals certain elected officials are able to obtain from certain entities within the private sector, and the ability to fire, without cause or proper notice, individuals who faithfully execute their duties on behalf of taxpayers.

The federal government has maintained and continues to maintain an elite political class whose primary purpose is to consolidate power and privilege above and beyond that which is rational, justifiable, honest, or decent.

The federal government, including the EPA, actively suppresses scientific data, facts, information, and points of view that contradict or call into question the stated policy of the Executive Branch — even when the data, facts, information, or points of view have been developed at taxpayers’ expense — thereby eliminating public discussion and debate.

The federal government suppresses debate and promotes secrecy in its legislative chambers.

The federal government has refused to pursue tort reform, thus subjecting productive enterprises to wasteful, unmerited, fiscally-irresponsible lawsuits, the costs of which are ultimately borne by consumers.

The federal government has forced onto the body politick a series of racially- and gender-based quotas and other similar regimens that are the antithesis of non-discrimination.

The federal government has applied and continues to apply inconsistent standards of justice, routinely allowing those with means and position to evade the full effects of the law while, at the same time, those of more modest means or who lack privileged positions or connections feel the full force and effects of the law, even for lesser crimes.

In every stage of these treasonous oppressions, the will of the people is or has been made known: But our collective will has been answered only by repeated injury. Indeed, we have warned the federal government and its officers to withdraw from unwise attempts to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us; we have invited all who would hear to remember and honor our common heritage, the circumstances of the birth of these United States and the principles upon which it was founded, and the industry of its people and our desire to live without interference insofar as one does not take upon himself or herself the resolve to take from another the rights freely given to all by our Common Father; we have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity; and we have implored them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations, declaring such would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence. However, the federal government and its representatives have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity. Surely, a government whose character is thus marked by every act which may define tyranny is unfit to be the government of a free people. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity, which denounces our separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of mankind, enemies in war, in peace, friends.

Therefore, in the name of God Almighty, We, The People, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do hereby exercise the authority granted by God to all men and women who desire life and liberty to solemnly publish and declare (1) that each of these United States of America are, and of right, ought to be free, independent, and separate states, (2) that each state is individually and collectively absolved from all allegiance to the federal government of the United States IN ALL SPHERES, MATTERS, AND JURISDICTIONS WHEREIN THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS EXCEEDED OR PROPOSES TO EXCEED ITS CONSTITUTIONAL AUTHORITY, (3) that, IN THOSE SPHERES, MATTERS, AND JURISDICTIONS, all political connections between them and the federal government of the United States are and ought to be totally dissolved, and (4) that as free, independent, and separate states, each has full power to defend the life, liberty, and property of each individual citizen within its jurisdiction, disregard federal mandates, rules, and regulations that exceed federal authority as originally envisioned by the Founders, conclude peace, contract alliances, establish commerce, and to do all other acts and things which independent states may of right do — And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor.
