The Journey

Offering

“Love you” —

tender, caring, sincere words.

An offering —

hopeful, beautiful.

Pregnant words

given to another man

And overheard

by a longing heart.

“Love you” —

tender, caring, sincere words.

An offering —

hopeful, beautiful.

Pregnant words

a longing heart yearns to share with his Eve,

Yet withholds —

for with contempt his gift would be refused.

“Eve” is derived from Hebrew (haya), and is recorded as the name given to Adam’s companion (Genesis 3:20); the name itself means life, the mother of life, the mother of all life, or the mother of all living, depending on the specific source used.
