For members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, families are at the very core of living a Christ-centered life. We believe the family to be the basic unit of heaven, and therefore acknowledge the critical role of the family in developing a knowledge of our Savior and a commitment to living as he would have us live. To that end, LDS marriages are solemnized in temples for “time and eternity” — with the promise that our familial relationships will continue if we live worthily. Pictured above is the Redlands Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which is where the marriage of Matt and Sarah was solemnized.

For an important document about the nature of families, please read The Family: A Proclamation to the World, a statement issued by the First Presidency of the Church in 1995.
